Welcome to the designer blog for the first of our Team-Up box characters, Radiant Red! Be warned that this article has spoilers for the Radiant Black and Radiant Red comics, which as always, are fantastic comics to read.
Satomi Sone received her Radiant Red powers around the same time Radiant Black did, but, as she was trapped under a metaphorical mountain of financial troubles, used her powers to rob banks, putting her at odds with Radiant Black. She has the ability to absorb matter and use that to amplify her own strength!
Satomi's Intelligence ability taps into her absorbing power theme. You can absorb a little bit of your enemy’s healing and energy along the way, making this a soft secondary punish to your enemy playing Rest, and a very safe play if you suspect they are going to Defend, as most Defends carry a heal if damage is blocked.
Continuing with “borrowing” from your enemy, her Heist ultimate robs your enemy of one of their cards, while allowing you to recoup the power to replay one of your own. Chaining this into a double dose of Massive Power will pulverize your enemy in no time flat! And once she unlocks this ultimate, it doesn’t become stored, you can get it back the next time you play Rest yourself!
Radiant Red is a brawler, and is a tough cookie to take down. Her passive starts with blocking a little damage from your enemy’s biggest hits. A nice little bonus, but nothing to get too excited about. But once she’s accumulated 3 energy, she becomes a juggernaut, blocking damage every turn! Not only will this keep you alive a lot longer, but will also shut down weak enemy abilities with nasty Hit effects.
You’ll find Radiant Red in the Team-Up expansion, but she’s completely playable in regular 1v1 play as well!
